چکیده
Posljednjih 15 godina zlatno su razdoblje sustava obrazovanja u kojemu se ono u mnogim istra ivanjima i èlancima navodilo kao najva nija odrednica ekonomskog rasta i društvenog razvoja. Stalno naglašavanje va nosti obrazovanja dovelo je do stvaranja gotovo fiksacijeutvrðivanja i mjerenja kvantitativnih ciljeva kako bi politièari i vlade mogli mjeriti napredak i isticati uspješne rezultate. Time je pozornost usmjerena na ono što se mo e razmjerno lako mjeriti, pa je gotovo zavladala zaluðenost poveæanjem broja upisanih i diplomiranih studenata, te postizanjem što više obrazovne i kvalifikacijske razine stanovništva i zaposlenih. I u najrazvijenijim su zemljama – posebice u SAD-u i Velikoj Britaniji – osnivane raznovrsne slu be i agencije za mjerenje uspjeha škola, rangiranje sveuèilišta, osuvremenjivanje obrazovnih planova i programa (curriculuma). Stalno se nastojalo ostvariti povezivanje gospodarstva i obrazovanja, a politièari i lijeve i desne usmjerenosti isticali su va nost obrazovanja za postizanje konkurentnosti gospodarstva. Gorljivo su se zalagali za demokratizaciju obrazovnog sustava, njegovu veæu dostupnost i ujednaèavanje obrazovnih standarda i ustanova, a veæinom su sustavno radili na pogoršanju postojeæeg stanja. O mnogim (ne)istinama vezanim uz obrazovanje piše Alison Wolf u knjizi Does education matter? Myths about education and economic growth (Ima li obrazovanje va nost – mitovi o obrazovanju i ekonomskom rastu). Izdavaè knjige je Penguin Books iz Londona. Alison Wolf, profesorica Sveuèilišta u London, u svojoj knjizi vrlo oštro, hrabro i utemeljeno pobli e objašnjava mnoge pogreške koje su napravljene u sustavu obrazovanja, posebice Velike Britanije, ali daje i osvrt na stanje u drugim zemljama.
